Israeli/Palestinian Conflict (abridged for want of space - see above)
Iraq The M.E. & U. Party were opposed to the present war in Iraq and were strongly in favour of the continuation of weapons inspections by the United Nations inspectors. The party has never been convinced that Iraq had any connection with the World Trade Centre tragedy and felt that Saddam Hussein could have been dealt with in a far less dramatic fashion without the need for so much destruction and loss of life, both civilian and military. ‘The party has faith in the UN, formed after the Second World War as a development of the League of Nations. The present conflict, which was initiated without the clearance of the UN Security Council, has set a serious precedent which the party feels was not justified and has seriously undermined the strength of that organisation.
Manifesto compiled on behalf of the Motoring, Equity & Unity Party, 5th July 2004.

Social Issues. The M.E. & U. party will be tackling social issues such as the reasons for the high divorce rate within our society, the single-mothers syndrome and the causes and possible remedies for sex crimes. The present head-in-sand approach of the existing political parties does not appear to be having any impact on our social problems. We will be actively pursuing measures to alleviate some of these problems. Putting people in prison doesn’t solve problems; it only hides them.
&
Education. It would appear that the current thought on education is that modern schools produce better education. The M.E. & U. party feel that the important part of education is good teachers rather than good buildings. The M.E. & U. party feels that the Grammar School was an effective means of enabling the more talented youngsters to pursue more demanding subjects. The party feels that putting less talented youngsters with the high-fliers simply produces feelings of inferiority and this presents itself in society as antisocial behaviour of various kinds. The party believes that the less talented require more intensive teaching methods to bring them up to an acceptable standard, whereas others require stretching of their abilities rather than intensive coaching. The abolition of the present GCSE’s and A levels is simply to pretend that all students have the same ability. The meddling with ability certificates can only lead to disappointment at the stage of job interviews. The M.E. & U. Party feel that reality should be introduced to students at an early age in order that they can learn to deal with life’s difficulties without surrendering to the temptations faced by the less successful in our society. Schooling is about learning how to deal with difficulties encountered when leaving for the workplace.
Education Funding.
The Party believes that fees for further education should be graded according to the demands of the national economy. If there is a shortage of personnel for Teaching, Hospitals and Engineering then subjects dealing with these professions should be subsidised by the government to ensure an adequate supply of Graduates for these professions.
Coastal Erosion
The M.E. & U. Party feels strongly that more government/EU funding should be made available for halting the erosion of our North Sea coastline. (see below for development of the Eastern regions).
Development of the Eastern region of the UK. The M.E. & U. party feels that a bridge should be constructed with similar financial arrangements to those of the Humber Bridge, between Northeast Kent and Southeast Essex at convenient sites to enable traffic to and from the Dover Ferry-port to the Midlands and North of England without the need to use the M25 thereby assisting in the reduction of traffic in that arena. In addition this construction will enable the areas immediately surrounding this construction to develop commercially and enable the building of affordable housing in areas which are at the present time comparatively isolated because of the inadequate infrastructure for the 21st century. With the demand for housing in the South it is essential that these areas are made more accessible. This would also make Stanstead Airport more accessible to users in the south-east.
Hunting The party supports Hunting with the proviso that the dogs are fitted with muzzles to prevent the destruction of the fox. If the Hunts are prepared to accept this limitation they have our full support. This does not include Hare Coursing. The Party is opposed to coursing
