Articles and Comments relating the USA politics and their involvement in Middle East Affairs including the Israel/Palestinian issue.
"We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the world - no longer a Government of free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of small groups of dominant men." : Woodrow Wilson
Let’s hope that our politicians (Europe) never become dependent on AIPAC for it’s campaign funds. We all know that the major parties (UK) are in the red at the present time. This would obviously be an ideal time for such an organisation to step in with a helping hand !
There appear to be a considerable number of US Senators with a Yellow Streak down their backs. The Senators I refer to are those that had assistance with their campaign funds from the Pro-Israel Lobby. Because of this financial assistance (Democrats and Republicans) they are hog-tied and not able to criticise the actions taking place between the Israelis and the Lebanese resistance fighters known as Hezbollah. It is only since George Bush entered the White House that Hamas and Hezbollah were named as terrorist organisations. Twenty-four hours after this pronouncement by the president of the United States the Israeli military machine destroyed Gaza City International Airport, a multi-story security building and two helicopters belonging to the Palestinian Authority. It looks suspiciously like George Walter Bush may have had some assistance from the Pro-Israel Lobby ! (see Opinion Column for more information about the Pro-Israel Lobby ) When are these senators going to stand up and say what they really think rather than allow this organisation, AIPAC to control American foreign policy ?

Despite the fact that the Palestinians elected Hamas as their government the Israelis refuse to talk with their representatives ! In fact they have arrested several members of the Hamas government ! Meanwhile they continue to use their helicopter gunships striking targets inside the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli government claim to be making the border between Lebanon and Israel safe yet they are bombing multiple targets, deep into Lebanon destroying the infrastructure of the Lebanese people. How do they justify such incursions when trying to set out a buffer zone in the south of the country ? How do they justify destroying the fuel supplies for the people of Lebanon. It would seem that the military machine in Israel is out of control. The latest proof of the hostility of the Israelis is the deliberate destruction of the UN post in South East Lebanon.
We recall similar out of control actions by the Israeli military when deliberately targeting the USS Liberty when in International Waters in the Mediterranean killing 34 American seamen and injuring 172, some left permanently disfigured. When are the Americans going to take away their Weapons of Mass Destruction ? Clearly we were looking in the wrong place (Iraq) when looking for the so-called WMD’s ! There would appear to be little chance - a consignment of 5000lb blockbuster bombs has just passed via Prestwick on it’s way to Israel to help increase the fire-power of the Israeli military machine.

There will never be peace in the Middle East until US Senators stop compromising themselves by accepting campaign funds from the Pro-Israel Lobby. The US government is virtually hogtied by this organisation to prevent a cessation of hostilities until they, the Pro-Israel Lobby (AIPAC) have achieved their ambition, which is the complete destruction of Hamas and Hezbollah ! For every so-called terrorist killed two more are recruited, at the same time alienating the entire Moslem populations around the world.
How can Israel justify the taking of Hamas political representatives hostage ? They were the legitimate leaders chosen by the Palestinian people. How can they justify the continuation of raids into Gaza by tank and Apache helicopter gunships ? The truth is that there are many Palestinians working for Mossad. This is how the IDF know the targets, both members of the militant wing of Hamas and the workshops where armaments are fashioned. Why are these armaments manufactured ? To retaliate for the actions of the IDF (a vicious circle). This explains why the militants wear face-masks in order not to be recognised by the Israeli spies. If they are recognised they are usually fried, four at a time in their vehicles.
How can this vicious circle be ended ? The most obvious first step would be the surrender by the Israeli government of their Apache helicopters, taking away one of the obvious causes of Palestinian militancy. There is never a day when a Palestinian is not killed by the IDF.
This is where the problem of finding a solution starts. Unless the US government is squeaky clean (honest broker), they will never require the removal of the Apache helicopters. As to how this act could be achieved the answer is simple. To halve the annual $3 billion dollars given to Israel from the American Tax Payer unless agreement is reached on this matter. The use of these military machines was for defence yet they are constantly used to attack Palestinian areas. Do the American people want peace or are they willing to sacrifice more soldiers to what could become WWIII if any of the Middle East countries dare to attack Israel.
The irony is that wars actually earn money for investors in the arms industry. Only soldiers pay the price.

Any onlooker that doesn’t see a connection between the organisation AIPAC and the present conflict in the Middle East (Iraq and Lebanon) is clearly out of touch with reality. We hope that the two hostages that were taken by Hezbollah are still alive - despite the continuous bombardment of Lebanon. It would appear that the safety of those two IDF soldiers is the last thing on the minds of the Israeli military.
The President of the USA tells the world that we are fighting a war to introduce democracy to the Middle East. It would appear that such democracy is lacking in the US at the present time. When Senators can be bought there is no democracy. The sooner that political campaigns are paid for out of Government Funds the better for all humanity. (We don’t want World War III )
The Israeli tanks were amassed on the border with Lebanon for 3 days - no doubt to invite attacks from Iran or Syria. Such attacks didn’t take place, otherwise the US military, under it’s commander, George Walter Bush would have been able to carry out it’s desired rectification of the ‘Axis of Evil’. The people of Syria are going about their daily lives, perfectly happy, enjoying the same things as we in the civilised world !
Yet there are those that wish to disrupt their lives, much as those in Lebanon at the present time. What country makes ambulances targets during war ? What country prevents injured persons being taken to hospitals ? What country keeps people in prison for 28 years plus ? Echos of Guantanamo Bay !
Shalom.

In the USA, The New York Times reported on the mass demonstrations around the country (12th August) Excerpt......The criticism of Israel at Saturday’s rally contrasted with the sentiment in Congress, where support for Israel is overwhelming and bipartisan. By a vote of 410 to 8, the House last month expressed “strong support’’ for Israel and condemned Hezbollah and Hamas for armed attacks on Israeli territory. The Senate approved a similar resolution by voice vote........(end quote).
We are seeing once again the distortion within US politics that would appear to be creating a climate of acceptance to war against Moslem countries.
To add to this melee, The Daily Telegraph which is openly supportive of Israel announces in their headlines today, Monday 14th August “Terror police target more than 70 ‘plots’.” This has a similar ring to an article published in the paper a few months ago when there were riots in France.
Talking about what one would like to do, bearing in mind the multiple deaths in Iraq and Lebanon, not to mention the soldiers that have died is one thing; to carry out such operations is another. We await to see if any of these liquid exposives actually exist or is it just another false alarm, like the WMD’s and 45 minutes in Iraq ? We would iterate the strong views of some in the USA that talk of ‘Armageddon’ and appear to be looking forward to such a conflict. Go to BBC link about Christian Zionists (listen to on-line radio recording). We don’t want World War III. Unlike the aftermath of the Second World War, the USA is no longer as financially secure as it was then. Any recovery after another World War would be slow and painful. Better to keep the warmongers under tight wraps. The only winners would be those investing in the arms industry.
"The Bush Administration is bad enough in tolerating measures they would not accept anywhere else but Israel," says Henry Siegman, the former head of the American Jewish Congress and a Middle East expert at the Council on Foreign Relations. "But the Congress, if anything, is urging the Administration on and criticizing them even at their most accommodating. When it comes to the Israeli-Arab conflict, the terms of debate are so influenced by organized Jewish groups, like AIPAC, that to be critical of Israel is to deny oneself the ability to succeed in American politics."
